Theresa Osborne is a Senior Economist with the World Bank’s Poverty Global Practice. An applied micro-economist, she has worked for over 20 years as a practitioner, policy analyst, and researcher on a range of sector and economic policy issues in developing countries. As a Lead Economist at the Millennium Challenge Corporation, she was on the forefront of the Results agenda in US foreign assistance. She has brought insights from this and other experiences to her work at the World Bank, where she has led a variety of analytical programs in the Africa and Latin America Regions, participated in the Systematic Country Diagnostic Task Force, led initiatives to enhance the use of knowledge and learning in programming. She worked as a Research Fellow at the European University Institute, Assistant Professor of Economics at Hunter College, and Visiting Assistant Professor at Princeton University and has published her research in highly ranked peer reviewed journals. She holds a B.A. degree in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an M.A. in International Affairs from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and a Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University (1997).
